[Jake] has filled out to a healthy 82 lbs!! My other dog, Buddy, somehow managed to blow out both knees back in May (you may remember that he only had 3 legs to begin with…..). Since then, he had double knee repair surgery and is recuperating. He is walking a little bit - enough to get around and do “the basics”. Jake is anxiously awaiting our return to our daily walks and being able to play with Buddy in the back yard. He’s a little frustrated by all of the attention Buddy is getting, but for the most part he has been very good and patient.

Jake is quite the dog. He LOVES to play, and when Buddy won’t acknowledge his attempts to get a good play session started, well, then the “trick bag” comes out, and Jake tries EVERYTHING he can to get Bud’s attention. Just to name a few……stealing a favorite toy and parading it around the house, maybe even tossing it in the air as he passes by Buddy;…. running to the door and barking as if there is something VERY important going on just to get Buddy all wound up;….. chasing fictitious cats & squirrels in the yard just to get Buddy’s attention - then running back into the house while Bud is feverishly looking for whatever varmint Jake was chasing. Oh my. You can just kind of see the “wheels turning” while he’s planning out his little schemes.

Jake seems to be settling in very well. He is a sweet boy, and he is so gentle and calm. The neighbor was petting him on our walk yesterday, and he said “He is such a COOL dog”, and think that sums it up pretty well.
