Happy Holidays! I feel fortunate to have adopted such a loving, big baby of a GSD. He's doing excellent! We've been getting our first few doses of winter (snow). He doesn't seem to mind it at all. We go out playing in it all the time...He even eats the snow!

I think he's done filling out now too. He had some weight to gain back post-heartworm treatment. He looks great! ... It's hard to believe he's right around 120 lbs & not an ounce of fat! He still doesn't know his size & thinks he's a big lap dog!!! (pretty funny)

Ace's name was lengthened to "Casey". He is doing great! He is a big beautiful dog. We started some obedience training & he is picking [it] up very fast (I knew he would). He loves his new home. He also has some new cousins (fellow GSD's to play with) at my relative's house. He is still a big baby! He has to have his hugs all the time.

Ace is starting to get used to his new home more. He is relaxing better in the house. I think he's starting to realize this is his home now. He's been really good too. No accidents inside at all. We spend as much time as possible outside. He's not crazy about the training, but he is learning. It has been very hot lately, so we walk & train until we're both tired. He recharges very fast though!. He still has so much puppy in him! He has these little 'bursts' of energy. It's pretty funny! When not following me around, his favorite pastime is watching the cat & bugging him. it's unbelievable how many people have commented on how nice of a dog he is!

Ace
Adopted May 28, 2007

Ace is a gorgeous 2 year old Shepherd who tested positive for Heartworm. He was transferred to have treatment at our veterinarian's office. He started his treatment January 11, 2007. So far he is quiet and whimpers a bit in pain, but is being a trooper. Treating a heartworm positive dog, especially one that is unaltered, requires a long-term treatment plan. Ace will undergo 2 treatments, then have to heal from those, get retested and possibly have another different shot in a few months. After that, he will have to heal some more. If he tests negative for heartworm after 6 months, we are then clear for his neuter. He can then head off for his new loving home. We always hope for the best and that a family for Ace will be waiting on the other side of this treatment.
