Jimmy is a big 10 years old today!

Jimmy and his brothers/sisters had some chicken and beef from Whole Foods' hot bar and some doggy Strawberry yogurt! Hopefully they won't get a tummy ache! Ruby was hiding under the desk and is afraid of cameras [however] she was enjoying her chicken and yogurt as well.

Today was Jimmy's 9th birthday! We ordered a sausage pizza for the furkids... We had pizza and then the kids got some chews...and Jimmy got a stuffed toy! Ruby was not left out of the pizza party. She doesn't come for food so we would throw some over to her and she'd go find it and eat the sausage/cheese. We didn't leave her out. She enjoyed her sausage pizza as well!

Here is Ruby doing what they all do with this pool...[its] an expensive water bowl...

July 24, 2006
Jimmy is awesome as always..constantly wrestling with Charlie the Shiba.....They love each other and love to wrestle/play with each other. Jimmy also likes to steal any rawhide or bone Charlie might have.

July 21, 2006
Ruby is coming around.. wants [dad] to play with her so her new thing is, if he lets her out, she'll come back and stick her head in the door (sliding glass patio door) and won't let him close it until he goes out to play with her.

[Jimmy's dad] was on the way to the vet with Jimmy ... there was this lady desperately chasing after her lab/pit mix running around [a busy road]. [Jimmy's dad] pulled over and asked if her dog liked other dogs and she said yes, so he got Jimmy out of the car and her dog went running up to Jimmy and they sniffed each other long enough for the other dog's mom to catch up. [The other dog's owner] was crying. HURRAY FOR JIMMY BUFFETT! He possibly saved that dog's life today.

April 20, 2006
Jimmy B went for another checkup at the vet yesterday afternoon. He is 97 pounds. He got his nails trimmed and his 3 year rabies shot. Do you believe we've had Jimmy for almost 3 years now? He is looking very good and he got a nice bandana to wear. The vet kissed him on the nose! Our vet probably weighs less than Jimmy does

February 2, 2006
Jimmy is a very intelligent boy. He is odd in his intelligence in that he seems to know what we're saying without us teaching him anything. He'll bring in an indoor toy another dog has brought out, he'll "go get Ruby" if she won't come in, if he is whiney and barking at night we'll tell him "then go up to bed if you're tired" and he will take off and go upstairs to his kuranda bed. He is just odd the way he seems to understand us... He is SO spoiled now! He also likes his penguin toy he got for Christmas. I often see him laying his head on that and playing with it when I come home from work. I tried to give Ruby a stuffed lovebug toy but she was uninterested in it. Jimmy cried and whined and barked until we gave it to him and he carried it off. Jimmy LOVES his toys and really doesn't care for anyone else playing with them. He'll let it go on for a LITTLE while before he feels the need to go over and remove the toy from whomever has it at the time. His toy footballs and baseballs are his favorite toys.

January 10, 2006Photos: (1) I thought this one was precious! Although Jimmy is always photogenic. (2) It's hard to see Ruby's new bed, but she seems to be getting used to it. Her mattress just came in today! She does like pillows so I gave her lots. She hides some of her bones and stuff under her pillows and arranges them how she wants them.

Jim and Ruby were in their beds... I flipped on the light in the bedroom and Jim gave one of his noises and then covered his eyes with his paw and left it there until I turned off the light...

September 27, 2005
Jim has been watching Ruby and thinks it is unfair that he stays off the furniture (though never told to stay off the furniture) when Ruby gets to jump right up and sit/sleep on the chaise lounge. So, just like helping himself to her crate, he has now started hopping up on the chaise lounge because if this NEWCOMER can sit on the furniture, Jimmy feels there is no reason he should be sleeping on the floor like a common dog or something.

Ruby sleeps ...under the desk [in] her little cave (she also has two crates.) She's knocked out the internet phone plug several times. She is such a sweetie. I can't wait until she feels more comfortable around us so we can formally train her. She has a wonderful gait and trot. Very graceful. She also crosses her paws a lot when she lays down. Very feminine. Ruby does seem to like to eat! She especially enjoys little bits of cheese.

August 23, 2005
Ruby is a strong and fast girl also. [She] can really outrun us in the big backyard. Ruby has taken to Jimmy right away.

2005 update: Princess has passed on. She had a malignant liver tumor. We did operate on it but she [passed on] from complications from the operation at age 12. We were heartbroken.

July 2003
He knocks on the patio door if he is left outside without his humans for more than 3 minutes (even howled once), and loves to play catch outside or just play inside with all his toys. No sooner have we put his stuffed toys away then he will pull them all out, one by one, of their toy boxes.

Photos: 1) Jimmy with his parrot toy. 2) Jimmy has a lot of pals, including Lady and Sadie! 3) Jimmy in his backyard.)

December 2003
Jimmy went for his six month checkup and is doing FABULOUS. He is now 95lbs!!!! HE IS A BIG BIG BOY! He is not overweight, though. He is a happy boy!

Photo: Jimmy with his sister, Princess. Doesn't he look stylish with that K9 bandana!

Jimmy Buffett
was a sweet, male, neutered, 5 year old, large, black and tan, German Shepherd Dog and "ladies man" who LOVED to play with the female dogs. He was an independent guy and would entertain himself for hours — if he had a girlfriend, he was even happier. He warmed up to his people and was a playful spirit. He had completed a round of obedience courses, and loved to ride in any vehicle. He did pull hard when he wanted to run to the car, but was a great dog. Jimmy was very happy when he found himself adopted into a home with a beautiful German Shepherd girlfriend!

Adopted August 2005.
Thelma (renamed Ruby) was a 2-3 year old, black/tan female, German Shepherd Dog. Louise was a 2 year old, spayed, female sable German Shepherd Dog. Louise was a high energy puppy. Thelma was also playful, but more reserved. They did very well with small dogs (4lb yorkie) all the way up to the big kids. They were very sweet and loving and came to us via a very awful, but too common situation.

Louise, and her buddy Thelma, were brutally tossed out of a car in the country and left in a cloud of dust. Thelma suffered sprains and a nasty hematoma, but is otherwise is recovering very well. Louise was fortunate and wasn't terribly hurt. She was able to come to us and get her health care and spay right away. Thelma underwent medication treatment and rest before she received her spay.
