 Luke

Adopted January 2008

Two days before a bank foreclosure we were contacted by the property caretaker about a famiy of GSD's left inside this very large auction barn. The mom had been bred on purpose for sale of the puppies. Two of the pups sold when they were young, the remaining 4 were left to this fate. Mom at one time had been a loved house dog as she adapted readily to home life again. The puppies have known no one but the caretaker who would bring them food when he could, and their mommy. Their home was a barn area about the size of a football field with concrete, dust, and dirt. There was at least every bit if feces over their entire lifetime in that area, some shoveled into piles. The size of the area was their saving grace to be clean. They had no medical care in their life, no socialization, and no training or human love. Their dad apparently went with the spouse after a divorce. Mom and the pups were banished to the warehouse.

Cool hand Luke has been the friendliest and most outgoing, like his mother. He still needs lots of leash training and basic training. He jumps up for snuggles and wants to play every day, just full of happy energy. He still needs more socialization and training and is a very smart (and thinking) German Shepherd. He really needs a family with extensive German Shepherd experience to get the needed training done appropriately to avoid accidental training mistakes that new pet owners often make. He needs to be respected as he has had the same background as the other pups and has missed some of the socialization and skill training of a normal puppy. His personality may make you forget that and try training that he wouldn't be ready for yet. He is still being worked with, but his positive outlook on life, could allow him to go to the right new home at this time, as the one on one work may allow him to prosper faster than he might with the shared attentions he gets while in rescue. If you would like a super handsome, very intelligent German Shepherd and have the time, energy, experience and skills to spend with this young dog. Please apply for Luke.
